Safe Arrival

Safe Arrival

It is your responsibility to inform the school if your child is going to be late or absent.  We have a “safe arrival” program at Marion Schilling. Please call 1-844-350-2647 before 8:30 am  or visit: go.schoolmessenger.ca

In addition, be sure your child knows what the family plan is for their after school care before they go to school.  If the after school care is different from the norm be sure to write a reminder for your child in their agenda book.  If your child will be riding on a bus they don’t normally ride or will be getting off at a different bus stop, write a dated consent note for the bus driver.

If your child is going to be arriving late, please remind them that they must check in at the office.  Thank you!

Since 2014, the Bright Red Book Bus has visited Kamloops schools and parks throughout the summer. The bus provides children with free, quality interest books in order to increase book ownership, promote a love of reading, minimize summer reading loss, strengthen literacy skills, and improve educational outcomes. This is a collaborative project with the Boys & Girls Club of Kamloops, Literacy in Kamloops, and SD73.

The bus is scheduled to visit Marion Schilling and park in the parking lot June 29-August 14 every Tuesday morning from 10:00 to noon. Due to safety restrictions around COVD-19, students will not be boarding the bus this year.  There will be a “take-out menu” with popular titles posted for the day.

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As the end of the school year approaches, I am planning for the return of the electronic devices that have been loaned out to families for use during online learning.

For students in Kindergarten to Grade Five, please return chromebooks and charging cords to the school no later than Friday, June 19th.  They can be dropped off at the gym door where they were originally handed out.  Please phone the school to make an appointment so that I can arrange to have a staff member available to collect these items from you.  The phone number at the office is 250 372-2027.

Students in Grades Six and Seven will need to return their devices by Monday, June 22nd and will follow the same procedure listed above.

As you can imagine, it will take some time for us to complete the paperwork, disinfect the devices, and re-attach the charging cords and devices to the storage carts.  It is imperative that all the chromebooks are returned in good condition to ensure a smooth school start up in September.  Thank you so much for adhering the dates listed above.
